The realities of aging out of foster care.

Over 27,000 youth age out of the foster care system each year in the US. When a youth in foster care turns 18, they are instantly “aged” out of the foster care system. The consequence of aging out means the government no longer provides this person with healthcare and a wide variety of resources. This also means wherever they were living is suddenly no longer available to them.

Overwhelmed by the lack of support and safe options, the youth will often become homeless, imprisoned or fall victim to human trafficking.

At The Open Door House, we want to restore hope to at-risk youth – no matter what situation they are coming from.

Our home for young women is truly a home built with love. Our young ladies appreciate the attention to detail, the new bed linens, the cozy family room, the bright kitchen, all created for them to have a safe and stable home to begin planning their future.

If you are a young woman, 18-21, in foster care and ready to start working on your future, apply below.
