What We Do

/ Safe.

Exiting the foster care system is an uncertain time for youth without a support system. The Open Door House is a refuge for young adults searching for options.

/ Stable.

The Open Door House offers housing to youth for 12 to 18 months. The stability of a home allows youth a consistent environment to plan their next steps.

/ Support.

We are more than a support system β€” we are a family. The Open Door House provides support through licensed social workers, connecting youth to resources and guiding them to the next steps of life.

How our program helps.

1. Safe Home
We provide our youth with safe, stable and supportive transitional housing for up to 18 months. This is NOT a shelter, this is a HOME. We are a place of peace, hope and LOVE.

2. Wrap Around Care
Our staff of licensed professionals provides a custom care plan for each young adult in our program. We walk alongside them through a 12 to 18 month program that equips them for success in the future.

3. Resources
We provide the youth in our program with life skills workshops, guidance in finishing their GED or applying for college, assistance in applying for and securing a steady job, and consistent love and encouragement from our staff.

4. Community Support
It takes a village to raise a young adult! Our community volunteers provide workshops, art classes, special outings, and many more activities that promote healing and hope to the young adults in our program.

β€œIn 2015, while on a work service project, I first learned about youth aging out of foster care. It really pierced my heart and I could not let it go.”
